Today the Erlanger branch of our public library had a special Valentine's day party for little people. There was a clown (who, despite being a woman, really freaked Oscar out), face painting, and a magician. Oscar sat through, oh 20 minutes or so of the magician's show, but would not sit down, so we had to leave. He DID get to be in the act though, when the magician made a red ball come out of his bellybutton and out of his shoes. Oscar was amazed, and a little nervous.
We went over and got our hands painted after that. There were a bunch of Valentine's day designs, and a few "manly" designs at the very bottom. Oscar selected the bat and baseball, but would only allow them to put the stamp on, not the paint. He watched my hand get painted, and understood that it wouldn't hurt, but didn't like the idea of having to hold his hand still for the two minutes it would take. Toddlers!
On Thursday Oscar's class is having a Valentine's Day party, and he gets to go, which I am very happy about, because I get to go as well!
