Color Guard
Yesterday Oscar and I accompanied Amy, Brian, Amy's Mom and Dad, her sister Melissa, and her friend (Carla? maybe...) to Campbell County High School to watch Rachel in a color guard preview show. I was excited because Oscar had never seen her perform before, and because it involves the flags and guns she's always twirling at the house, I knew he'd be interested. We watched one school prior to Beechwood, then Beechwood, and then Oscar had hit his limit of laps he could sit in and being told he couldn't go down the bleachers, so we left to roam the school for a while. It's a cute school, and Oscar had lots of space to roam, and we kept running into different guards getting ready to perform, but he was being cute, not pesty, so nobody really seemed to mind. On the way back he met another little boy, and then a baby that was probably just over 1 year, and they danced and skiped and sang in the hallway right outside the competition (you're only allowed in and out of the room between performances, never during them, so we needed to stay in the lobby until there was a lull.) We walked in just as Rachel was walking down, and he freaked out, excited to see her. I think that made her day. At the very beginning of her performance, just as the crowd cheers when the announcer says "Beechwood, you may take the field," Oscar let out a very enthusiastic "Go, Ray-Ray, Go!"
